Mimi Rogers was born Miriam Spickler on 27th January 1956, in Coral Gables, Florida, USA, to Philip Spickler and Kathy Talent. Her father was a civil engineer and her mother was into dance and drama.

Philip was a follower of Scientology and Mimi was introduced to it during her childhood. The family relocated to different places around the world before they finally settled in Los Angeles, California.

As a child, she had to study at different schools. She graduated at an early age of 14. Instead of opting for formal college education, she became involved in writing and theater. She also studied acting under late American director and producer Milton Katselas.

Prior to becoming an actress, she worked as a social worker and substance abuse counsellor for a period of six years in a hospital.
