Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire in the war in Ukraine, as North Korea admitted for the first time it has sent troops to fight in his war. Repeating Kremlin lies Kim Jong-Un’s military said he had sent troops to fight in Ukraine and "annihilate and wipe out the Ukrainian neo-Nazi occupiers and liberate the Kursk area…”

The Kremlin said the ceasefire will run from the morning of May 8 until May 11 - which coincides with victory celebrations to mark the end of World War Two. In a statement it said Putin declared the ceasefire "based on humanitarian considerations,” although Ukraine has not yet responded to the temporary peace. A Kremlin statement said: " Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow this example.

"The Russian side once again declares its readiness for peace talks without preconditions, aimed at eliminating the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis, and constructive interaction with international partners." A security source told the Mirror :

“Putin is clearly playing for more time, pretending he’s interested in peace whilst consolidating his position in Ukraine. Nobody in Ukraine can possibly take this seriously after so many bombings of civilian targets of late.”

The Kremlin announced a similar, 30-hour truce over Easter, but while both sides reported a dip in fighting, they accused each other of hundreds of violations. Russia was accused of violating the agreement 3,000 times according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

And it comes days after US President Donald Trump acknowledged that Putin may be conning him with talk of a ceasefire by saying it looked like the Kremlin leader: “. . .might be tapping me along.” Ceasefires have been attempted more than 20 times in Ukraine – all of them failed eventually, and some within minutes of going into effect.

North Korea publicly solidified its support for Russia’s war on Ukraine, confirming Kim has sent troops to fight in a “friendship driven by blood.” Pyongyang was parroting the Kremlin lie about ‘de-Nazifying’ Ukraine, perpetuating the illusion that Ukraine is run by Nazis, to invoke WWII fears.

Putin also said earlier today (MOn) : “The Russian people will never forget the heroism of the DPRK special forces. “We will always honor the heroes who gave their lives for Russia, for our common freedom, fighting side by side with their Russian brothers in arms.”

State news agency KCNA claimed its soldiers helped Russian forces "completely liberate" the Kursk border region, according to an order given by leader Kim. It comes just days after Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov praised the "heroism" of North Korean troops, as Russia confirmed the state’s involvement in Ukraine for the first time.

It is believed 14,000 poorly trained and ill-equipped troops have been sent to the Ukrainian front, including 3,000 reinforcements to replace thousands already killed within months of deployment. Many of them are from North Koreas’s so-called “Storm Corps”- an elite special forces unit. Gerasimov claims Moscow has regained full control of the country's western Kursk region - the areas Ukraine invaded to divert Moscow’s troops. That claim has been denied by Ukraine.
